Yeah, I’m trying hard to look at all sides of the issue. Saddam is a bastard, and he’s done some nasty things to the Iraqi people, but what we’re doing isn’t that much better. Napalm is some nasty shit, as is DU. People over there are still having problems due to the DU used in the last war.
I also think that all that “we’re going to liberate the Iraqi people” is a load of crap. Bush wants oil, or perhaps more accurately, the powers behind Bush want oil. They want control of that country. He’s not going to set them up with their own “democratic” government. He’s going to keep Iraq for his own profit, perhaps for the profit of America. That kind of profit, gained in such a bloody and unjust way is going to majorly screw with our karma, as individual people and as a country.
You don’t liberate people by bombing them. Also, even if Bush thinks this is a new war, which I doubt, a lot of people in this country think that we’re at war with Iraq because of 9/11. That’s also crap. There were**0** Iraqis among those hijackers. To say that they were a part of it just because they’re Muslim is sick. I can’t imagine how the Iraqis think of us if they think we’re at war with them because of their religion…
Ok, I’m officially rambling now. I’m not trying to argue…sorry, I get all pissed off when I think about this whole thing…If you want a good news story, read Robert Fisk, he’s good….The napalm thing I heard from Starlie, I read one story on it, but she was gonna go look it up and see there were more. I’ll have to ask her what she found.

: Well, I prefer peace to war to the fullest possible extent, but I'm willing to admit there may be a reason we're over there. On one hand, I think the weapons of mass destruction that they are claiming to be in Saddam's possession may not be the whole truth, but then it may be. Either case, I don't trust that the government is over there for wholly protective or altruistic reasons, due to the history of the Bush family, the gains the Carlyle Group is bound to make from this war, etc.
: I do know that Saddam is a truly evil son of a bitch, and that he's been doing horrible things to the Iraqi people, so I can see some of the benefit to the war, at the same time. I just hope the US government doesn't leave Iraq with a leader who will do the same things, only in the interest of the US government, like we've done with so many other countries.
: In any case, I'm not really patriotic either. So, it's cool.
