I think you use the term "Christian" much more loosely than I do. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that you lump anyone who believes in God (er, only one God) into that category, and I'd have to disagree....but I'm sure that's just how you've believed for most of your life, and there are many others who see it this way so I don't blame you for that.
I'm also sorry you've had a bad experience with Christians. A lot of people have and it makes it really hard for some of us to get past the stereotypical idea of a Christianity.
